The Kansas City Chiefs were one of several teams at Bethune-Cookman’s recent Pro Day, but there’s likely one primary player the team was there to see: linebacker Ryan Davis. The 6-2, 256 lb. player would fit well into the 3-4 scheme of Romeo Crennel and could be a late round/undrafted gem.
Brent Woronoff of the Daytona Beach News-Journal writes, “Besides the Jaguars and Chiefs, scouts represented the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, San Diego Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers.”
Davis also had a personal workout with the Jags and it’s clear he was the focus. The National Football Post’s Wes Bunting likes him and writes, “Is an athletic guy with a good looking body, intriguing athleticism and good production. A potential roster guy as a 34 OLB.”
As for Davis’ performance, it was good but 40 times only count for so much.
“Numbers are numbers. You don’t really know anything until you can see the film on them,” said Kansas City Chiefs special teams assistant Derius Swinton.
