2012 NFL Draft: Devon Still Among Names Chiefs Likely Considering At DT

As the Kansas City Chiefs consider their options for upgrading the defensive interior through the 2012 NFL Draft in one round or another, Russ Lande of Sporting News writes that Devon Still is one name they will likely consider early. The Penn State defensive lineman would help a need if he's the right fit for their 3-4 schemes given that the Chiefs definitely lack an impact developmental talent along the line. That is, unless last year's sixth round choice Jerrell Powe turns a corner in his first full offseason.

Lande writes, "The Kansas City Chiefs pick 11th overall and must upgrade their defensive line, so they could take Still in the first round if LSU's Michael Brockers is not available. Later in the first round, the New York Jets and No. 16 and the New England Patriots, who hold the 27th and 3st picks, could have interest in Still because he would fit well in their 3-4 schemes."

Still's stock has been up and down this post-season. It wasn't that long ago that he was considered to be a real first round option for the Chiefs, but lately it's possible he could even slide to the top of the second round. If the Chiefs could get a solid defensive tackle at that spot, that would likely make for the best draft value. Given the state of draft buzz one way or the other, it's impossible to tell how it will turn out until draft night.
