The Kansas City Chiefs visited with free agent linebacker Dan Skuta, but they allowed him to leave town and the former Grand Valley State star (along with Brandon Carr) re-signed with the franchise he’s been with over the last three seasons. The Cincinnati Bengals decided to keep Skuta after enjoying a career high three starts in the middle and 31 total tackles.

The Chiefs were likely checking out Skuta as an option to man the inside spot next to Derrick Johnson. The Chiefs already have Jovan Belcher and Brandon Siler competing for time there, so Skuta would need to really impress as a player on the next level. It’s also the position the Chiefs have been projected at in mock drafts for some time for Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly.

In a recent overview of the Bengals’ linebackers on the team’s main web site, Skuta was profiled as a guy who “does it all. He’s the first guy off the bench at middle and SAM as well as the leader of special teams with 39 tackles in his three seasons.”
