2012 NFL Draft: Chiefs Work Out LSU Safety Brandon Taylor

Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs endured their fair share of injuries. In doing so, the team’s lack of depth at several positions was exposed, especially in the secondary. Injuries to both Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis gave way to a major drop-off in talent to the next level of the roster. Thus, it’s not surprising to find out that the Chiefs are working out potential assets before the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft.

Brandon Taylor is the latest prospect to be linked to the Chiefs scouts and coaching staff with a private workout, and the LSU safety would definitely aid a thin safety position on the roster. The starters might be in place, but Taylor’s game would work well to bolster the entire unit, aid on special teams and provide a bit more comfort knowing that Berry and Lewis both have to prove they are back and completely healthy.

Wes Bunting agrees that Taylor would be a good fit on a team in need of that third safety. He writes, " He can tackle in the box and in space, despite being a bit inconsistent at times. Displays some natural coverage ability and looks capable of maturing into tweener starter/nickel safety at the next level."

Taylor will have to overcome some health concerns to keep his draft stock up, which is why his personal workouts are going to be more important for his draft potential than others.
