Chiefs Training Camp: Defensive Back Kyle McCarthy Injures Knee

The Kansas City Chiefs experienced their first significant injury on the roster early in training camp with the word that defensive back Kyle McCarthy is likely going to miss some time with a knee injury that head coach Romeo Crennel describes as "not good." After the injury happened on Saturday, Crennel took time to open with comments on his status on Sunday.

"You know yesterday Kyle McCarthy was injured on the field," said Crennel in his opening statements from training camp on Sunday. "He has a knee (injury) and it doesn't look good. We will have to let that swelling go down and see where that leads us. It is just one of those things about football that happens, something that you have to deal with. He is a young man who has been working hard, a smart guy who had picked up the defense, but like I said, it doesn't look good for him."

McCarthy is a Notre Dame product trying to make the Chiefs as an extra defensive back and on special teams. The Chiefs are deep at that position with numerous bodies in camp, but it hurts to lose a hard worker like McCarthy.
