Russell Wilson Earns High Praise From Pete Carroll In Seahawks' Blowout Of Chiefs

Before the 2012 NFL Draft, many analysts were singing the praises of Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson with the belief that the starter would be able to overcome his short stature to become a capable starter for some lucky team. The Seattle Seahawks pounced in the third round, just one choice after the Kansas City Chiefs, and last night the Seahawks preseason win showed exactly what they got. It also showed the Chiefs exactly what they missed.

Wilson led Seattle to an incredible 44-14 win that included dominating performances all around by the Seahawks. Pete Carroll, the team's head coach, was very pleased after the game knowing that his team showed up on the road and performed better in all phases of the game. However it starts with the quarterback and Wilson was excellent.

"Honestly, this is what we had hoped to see," said Carroll after the game. "We wanted to see if he could go do it again and play well. He was very comfortable in the pocket. He had good protection for the most part. He took off when he needed to. He did that really well. He had run so much in the first two games, and I wanted to see if he would hold in there and read it out and he did exactly that. It was a nice job by him."

Wilson finished with a final stat line of 13 of 19 for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed twice for 58 yards.
