Brandon Flowers, Kendrick Lewis Inactive For Chiefs-Falcons

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs already had several top defenders listed on the injury report, but the questions that remained as of Sunday morning was whether or not key players like Brandon Flowers, Derrick Johnson, Kendrick Lewis and the lot were going to play or whether they would be declared inactive. The team has finally made that announcement and it appears that the secondary will be hurting without Brandon Flowers and Kendrick Lewis.

Flowers is the Chiefs best cornerback by a long shot and the loss of Brandon Carr this offseason only further displays how much he is missed when he is not on the field. Stanford Routt is going to be the top corner for the Chiefs today. As for Lewis, his absence was expected and Abe Elam will step up to take his starting role.

The good news for Chiefs fans is that Derrick Johnson will play today. The Pro Bowl linebacker was questionable for today's game, so his presence in the middle will make a huge difference.

The Chiefs already lost Tamba Hali for the season opener against the Falcons due to suspension of league substance abuse rules.
