Dayton Moore's latest trade has increased the Kansas City Royals' World Series odds -- and quite dramatically at that.

Kansas City sent uber-prospect Wil Myers, along with Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard to Tampa Bay, in exchange for James Shields and Wade Davis, as the Royals fortified their pitching staff.

The folks over at Las Vegas have taken notice, as Kansas City's odds to win the World Series have gone from 100-1 two weeks ago, to 40-1 on Monday morning.

Though many fans and critics in the media are slamming Moore's latest trade, Royals fans can take some solace in the fact that, in the eyes of Las Vegas, Kansas City's chances at winning in 2013 increased dramatically.

Shields provides a legitimate front-of-the-rotation pitcher that the Royals haven't had since trading Zack Greinke to the Milwaukee Brewers two years ago. Shields has posted fWARs of 4.9 and 4.3 the last two seasons, and will hopefully continue to pitch at high level for the Royals.

Only time will tell if the price was too high, as Royals fans will now have to watch Myers develop alongside Evan Longoria, rather than alongside Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas.
