The Kansas City Royals fell behind early when the Cleveland Indians rattled off five runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. All five of those runs were given up by Jonathan Sanchez plus he walked three batters and hit Shin-Soo Choo as well as allowing four hits in the third inning.
The pitching did not get much better for the Royals as Tim Collins who relieved Sanchez pitched only 2 and 1/3 innings allowing four earned runs. Collins left the game with the Royals trailing 9-2.
