Chicago came apart in the ninth as Addison Reed struggled as the Royals scored six times to increase the lead to 9-1.

The Kansas City Royals returned the favor to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night, flipping the same shutout score that the ChiSox put on KC in the series opener on Friday. With tonight's 5-0 win, that means the winner of the series will be determined in tomorrow afternoon's showdown.
Game two started with a rain delay that pushed things back a bit, but that failed to unnerve Luke Hochevar, who surprised everyone with a stellar performance that was just what the Royals pitching staff needed. Hochevar worked seven shutout innings after a shaky last few starts and provided the bullpen with rest and the Royals with an ace-like performance
After bringing back Greg Holland from his injury rehab at AA Northwest Arkansas, Holland finished a scoreless eighth and Aarow Crow followed suit in the ninth. As for the Royals offense, five Royals hitters had two hits apiece even without Mike Moustakas in the line-up. Alcides Escobar led the offense with two doubles on the night.
Chris Sale took the loss for the White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals have had their game time pushed back due to rain tonight, but it seems as if things are letting up. After an official 6:10 CT schedule for the first pitch has been delayed due to inclement weather, word is that things should get underway soon enough.
White Sox grounds crew now taking the tarp off the field, first pitch estimated of starting at 7:05 pm. Stay tuned in to 610 Sports Radio.

Luke Hochevar is on the mound for the Royals and the White Sox counter with Chris Sale. The Sox took the first game in the series yesterday and the Royals hope to score runs with a limited line-up given Mike Moustakas' absence with a sore left hamstring.

The hottest hitter in the Kansas City Royals line-up is going to sit out for the second time in three games tonight against the Chicago White Sox with a sore left hamstring. Royals manager Ned Yost says it’s better to be safe than sorry with third baseman Mike Moustakas, which means the Royals line-up is light against White Sox starter Chris Sale tonight.
“His hammy is still a little sore,” Yost said. “Just a little bit. He was about 85 percent before (Friday’s) game, and afterward, it didn’t feel worse. So this is a good day to give him a break. It’s wet. It’s cold. But, really, I didn’t have any idea the conditions were going to be like this and, (Friday) night, I told him I was going to give him a day (off) with the lefty going.”
Eric Hosmer was dropped to third in the order, and Irving Falu is taking Moustakas’ place in the line-up and on the field at third. Hopefully the Royals can bounce back after being shut out last night, but the change in line-up doesn’t bode well for such possibilities.

The Kansas City Royals are already struggling in the line-up these days as Eric Hosmer remains cold and key personnel like Lorenzo Cain and Salvy Perez are injured. It’s interesting, then, to see Mike Moustakas sitting on the bench to start tonight’s game against the Chicago White Sox with Irving Falu getting the start at third base.
The Royals line-up has been released and you can check the full card below.

Greg Holland is returning to the bullpen for the Kansas City Royals, back from the 15-day disabled list after the Royals have optioned long reliever Nathan Adcock back to AAA Omaha.
Holland, who started the Northwest Arkansas no-hitter on Thursday evening, got off to a brutal start this season with the big league club, before going to the DL. In seven appearances, he was 0-2 with a 11.37 ERA in 6.1 innings. The lone positive was the 10 strikeouts he had during that time.
Holland was one of the top performers in the bullpen last season, making 46 appearances with a 5-1 record and 1.80 ERA.
Adcock, who came over to Kansas City in the Rule V draft prior to the 2011 season, appeared in three games and had a 2.89 ERA in three games. He had turned into a starter at AAA Omaha, where he made four starts and had a 3-1 record with a 1.37 ERA prior to his call-up.
Holland will be available for Saturday evening's game against the White Sox.

Adam Dunn got on base in all four plate appearances and flexed his power with a home run and a double in the process. The Kansas City Royals have been hit hard by injuries on all parts on the roster. From the loss of Joakim Soria at the back of the pen for the year to position players like Salvy Perez and Lorenzo Cain, the Royals have yet to field the promising young team as they intended in 2012. Greg Holland will be a key part back in the bullpen once he’s available, and word is out that today might be that day as the team faces the Chicago White Sox in game two.
Holland has been out on rehab from a left rib injury in mid-April. Holland says he has felt good so far in his work at AA Northwest Arkansas.
"Both (rehab) outings felt good," he said. "I was able to execute what I wanted to do – get the ball down and throw strikes."
Ned Yost was ready to get Holland back as another option in a pen that’s been taxed at multiple times.
"When we get him back," manager Ned Yost said, "that will be a big boost to our pen. He’ll be in the seventh and eighth along with (Aaron) Crow and (Kelvim) Herrera in front of (Jonathan) Broxton."
The Royals hope to turn around their fortunes in today’s second game after being shut out in yesterday’s series opener against the AL Central rivals.

Luke Hochevar looks to get himself back on track on Saturday as the Kansas City Royals continue their series against the Chicago White Sox.
To say Hochevar has struggled in his last two starts would be an understatement. On May 1 against Detroit, Hochevar allowed nine runs on 12 hits and three walks in just four innings. It didn't get much better for Hochevar in his most recent start, as he surrendered seven runs on seven hits and a walk in just two and a third innings of work against the Yankees.
The two ugly outings have ballooned Hochevar's ERA on the year to an ugly 9.00, while increasing his WHIP to 1.82 and his BAA to .336.
KC's bats will look to give Hochevar some support on Saturday. A night after being shut out by Gavin Floyd, the Royals will face reliever-turned-starter-turned-reliever-turned-starter again Chris Sale, who is 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA so far. In 33 innings, Sale has struck out 30 and walked just nine.
Televised coverage between the Royals and White Sox can be found on Fox Sports Kansas City. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CT.

Led by the pitching of Gavin Floyd and the hitting of Adam Dunn, the Chicago White Sox were able to cruise to a 5-0 victory over the Royals on Friday night.
Felipe Paulino (1-1) was unable to replicate the succes he has against the Yankees in his first start of the season last week. White Sox slugger Adam Dunn hit his 11th home run of the season off of Paulino in the first inning to give his team a lead they would never relinquish. Alex Rios added a two-run triple in the sixth inning to give his team a 4-0 cushion. This hit chased Paulino from the game, as he gave up four earned runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Floyd improved his record to 3-3 with the win, allowing only five hits in 7 2/3 innings. Kansas City certainly had their chances, loading the bases in both the second and eight innings. However, in both instances the White Sox were able to pitch their way out of trouble as the Royals just couldn't up with the big hit on this night.
