The Kansas City Royals scored nine runs over the final three innings to cruise home with a 9-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.
The Royals entered the seventh inning trailing 1-0 but quickly turned things around with a Johnny Giavotella two RBI double that put KC in front 2-1. The Royals weren't finished as Jeff Francouer hit his first home run of the season in the eighth to extend the lead to 3-1. Chicago came apart in the ninth as Addison Reed struggled as the Royals scored six times to increase the lead to 9-1.
Kansas City starter Danny Duffy left the game after just 2/3 of an inning with an apparent arm injury. Luis Mendoza came on and pitched 5.2 innings while allowing seven hits and one run to earn the win. Phillip Humbar pitched into the seventh inning while allowing four hits and one run but takes a no decision. Matt Thornton takes the loss after allowing one run in just 0.1 innings.
