Prince Fielder Wins 2012 Home Run Derby, Matches Ken Griffey As All-Time Leader

The Detroit Tigers have to be pleased so far with their offseason investment in Prince Fielder, but now the rest of the nation, if they didn't already know, is now aware of what Fielder brings to the diamond every night as one of the most feared power hitters in all of baseball. The 2012 Home Run Derby took place last night and Fielder became just the second player of all-time to win a second title in his career.

Ken Griffey, Jr. is the other player to earn the honor putting Fielder in some impressive company. He won last night over Jose Bautista, who put on an impressive display of his own. In the end, Fielder hit 28 home runs in three rounds to take the win.

''Just being mentioned with him is real special,'' said Fielder, who spent time at Griffey's house when he was a kid. ''My dad would let me go over and play video games all day. He always took care of me when I was a kid.''

Robinson Cano, the winner of last year's Derby, was unable to knock a single pitch over the fence.
