Kansas City Royals Release Catcher Humberto Quintero In Another Puzzling Move

The Kansas City Royals traded two prospects to the Houston Astros just a few short months ago to acquire two veterans to help anchor a young team dealing with injuries. Apparently that window of time was all the Royals wanted catcher Humberto Quintero for.

The Royals traded Kevin Chapman and D'Andre Toney for Quintero to hit .232 in those few months that Salvy Perez was out. In addition, Quintero came with back spasms. In other words, the entire episode from acquisition to release is the sort of move that makes people scratch their heads about the Royals moves at times despite the plethora of young talent throughout the system.
