Royals Vs. Angels Game Recap: Kansas City Drops Series Finale, 4-3

The Kansas City Royals dropped the finale of a three-game set to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, 4-3. With the loss, the Royals failed in their attempt to win their second consecutive series.

All of the scoring in this game took place in the first four innings, as the Angels got on the board first with a run in the first, and three runs in the second. Mark Trumbo dealt the big blow, as his three-run homer off of Will Smith gave the Angels just enough runs to work with for the remainder of the ball game.

Kansas City started an attempt to fight back in the bottom of the second, as Jeff Francoeur plated a run with a groundout. The rally would continue in the next inning, as Tony Abreu hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot off of Dan Haren, to get the Royals to within two runs. Francoeur would drive in another run in the fourth, using an RBI infield single to make it a one-run game. However, that's as close as Kansas City would get, as Haren and the Angels bullpen held serve throughout the final five innings.

The Royals hope to get back on a winning track on Tuesday, as they welcome the first-place Chicago White Sox to town for a three-game set.
