Stay connected for news and updates

The Kanas City Royals scored three runs over the final two innings, but it was not enough as they fell to the Chicago White Sox 5-4 on Saturday afternoon. The Royals trailed 5-1 heading into the top of the eighth inning, and that is when they started their comeback attempt. Alcides Escobar got the scoring going when he hit a RBI double, and he nearly knocked in two runs but Lorenzo Cain was thrown out at the plate.

In the ninth inning the Royals scored on back-to-back singles to make it a one-run game. Jarrod Dyson came into pinch run and he proceeded to steal second. Cain came up to the plate with two outs, but he struck out to end the game.

The Royals were hurt early on the White Sox had a trio of home runs by Dayan Viciedo, Tyler Flowers and Paul Konerko, all of which came off of starting pitcher Bruce Chen. Chen ended up getting the loss as he gave up all five runs during his six innings of work.
