It's been a long first season for Charlie Weis at Kansas. The Jayhawks are 1-9 on the year and losers in nine consecutive games. Kansas nearly broke through last week, losing in overtime to No. 23 Texas Tech, but remains winless in the Big 12. Weis famously threw his seniors out of practice in October. Making matters worse is that in-state rival Kansas State has climbed into position to play for the BCS National Championship.

With Senior Day coming for those players he tossed from an October practice, could it be that the famously curmudgeonly Weis is turning over a new leaf?

That's Charlie, promising to buy tickets for any students who don't have one for Saturday's game so that the Kansas seniors can get their proper due. Weis, who makes $2.5 million a season, can certainly afford a few student tickets. It's a noble gesture, and one that will likely not cost him much; when a team is 1-9, getting fans in the seats is rarely a problem of high ticket prices.
