Charlie Weis says Daymond Patterson will return vs. Baylor

The senior receiver will return after missing the past two games with an injury.

Kansas Jayhawks receiver Daymond Patterson will return this weekend against the Baylor Bears, coach Charlie Weis said during his weekly press conference.

"He'll be back this week," said Weis. "We'll see how it goes. He hasn't played in a few weeks, so let's see how rusty he is. We'll work him back in; we'll work him back in today. I couldn't render a guess on what packages he'll be in and what he wouldn't be in until after I see him out there."

The senior receiver has not played since Oct. 13 in the team's 20-14 loss to Oklahoma State, when Patterson had just one reception for five yards. Patterson has 19 receptions for 160 yards and no touchdowns so far this season. Patterson missed most of the 2011 season and recorded just three receptions on the year. In 2010, the receiver enjoyed his best season in college with 60 catches for 487 yards and two touchdowns.

The Jayhawks have stumbled in the first season under new coach Charlie Weis, losing seven straight games after an opening-game victory over South Dakota State. The Kansas offense has sputtered for most of the season and is currently 121st in the nation in scoring per game.

Kansas is coming off a narrow loss to No. 23 Texas when the defense came alive against the Longhorns and nearly led the Jayhawks to an upset victory. Kansas will face Baylor on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
