John Rieger-US PRESSWIRE
Baylor is winless in the Big 12, while Kansas is winless against FBS opponents. One of those things changes on Saturday.
The Kansas Jayhawks travel to play the Baylor Bears on Saturday afternoon in a battle between two teams still looking for their first conference win.
Not only is Kansas searching for its first Big-12 win, it is also looking for win No. 1 against FBS competition. At 1-7, the Jayhawks' only win came on opening week against South Dakota State. Last week, Kansas led the Texas Longhorns 14-7 after three quarters, but gave up a touchdown with 12 seconds left and lost its seventh straight. Freshman Michael Cummings has ousted transfer Dayne Crist at the quarterback position, and in two games has thrown for 237 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Baylor is a statistical oddity, sporting a 3-4 record despite scoring 44 points per game. Quarterback Nick Florence has thrown 22 touchdown passes and leads the nation's No. 1 passing attack, which averages 396 yards per game. Florence's key target is Terrance Williams, who has hauled in 1,203 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in just seven games. The Bears have lost four straight, and play at home after playing four of their last five games on the road.
