Baylor hopes to build momentum from Kansas win

Jerome Miron-US PRESSWIRE

Baylor head coach Art Briles hopes that the Bears' win over Kansas on Saturday will build momentum for his squad, as the Bears look to become bowl eligible in 2012.

After perhaps the best year in school history in 2011, the Baylor Bears have come out a bit flat so far in 2012 -- and that's to be expected, with the loss of Robert Griffin III.

Baylor's win on Saturday over the Kansas Jayhawks marked the Bears' first Big 12 win of 2012, and evened up Baylor's overall record at 4-4.

Bears head coach Art Briles is optimistic that his team can use Saturday's blowout 41-14 win over Kansas to build momentum as the regular season begins to draw to a close.

"We certainly hope so, that's the first time I've felt good in a month, and so will our guys. I wish I was joking. Our players and our staff have been really resilient. We have to get one before we can get two, and we got one tonight."

Baylor has four games left remaining on its schedule, with three of the four games coming against ranked opponents. Baylor will face No. 12 Oklahoma on Saturday, before taking on No. 2 Kansas State. Baylor will then close out the season against No. 22 Texas Tech and unranked Oklahoma State.

With a 4-4 record, the Bears need two more wins to become bowl eligible in 2012. With games against three ranked opponents left, Briles' team may struggle to reach that mark.
