The Kansas Jayhawks are within striking distance of the Oklahoma State Cowboys at halftime. OSU leads KU 20-14 through two quarters at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kan.
Kansas put up 14 points in the first quarter with two drives over 77 yards. QB Quinn Mecham hit Tim Biere for a touchdown less than three minutes into the game to give KU a 7-0 lead. OSU responded with a touchdown and a field goal in the next two drives until KU's RB James Sims added a 24-yard touchdown run.
The two sides have played very even to this point in the game and KU has been able to move the ball. It's a promising start for KU.
OSU has 16 first downs to KU's 15 and 299 total yards to KU's 224. Kansas QB Quinn Mecham has completed an efficient 13-of-16 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown. Mecham added another 15 on the ground while JRB James Sims has 52 yards on 11 carries through one half. OSU's Justin Blackmon is on pace for a big game with four receptions for 76 yards so far. KU's Daymond Patterson has 63 yards on five catches.
Oklahoma State is ranked 10th in the country while Kansas is looking for their second Big 12 victory this year.
