Oklahoma State Cowboys Vs. Kansas Jayhawks: OSU Walks Away With 48-14 Victory

In typical Kansas fashion, the Jayhawks football team gave us a glimpse of hope and then let it all come crushing down quickly.

KU started off on the right foot with Quinn Mecham throwing a touchdown pass on the first drive of the game. That made it 7-0 and Oklahoma State scored twice to make it 10-7 later in the first. Kansas scored again on a 24-yard James Sims touchdown run making it 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. KU was looking good having scored on drives of 80 and 77 yards.

That didn't last long.

Oklahoma State made it 20-14 at halftime leaving KU some second half hope but the Cowboys took care of business quickly in the second half ending the game with a 48-14 OSU victory.

Quinn Mecham finished the game 13-of-23 for 138 yards (no second half completions) and one touchdown. Jordan Webb came on in the fourth quarter and went 6-of-9 for 36 yards. James Sims had 17 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown while Daymond Patterson caught six balls for 68 yards.

The Cowboys made plenty of mistakes throughout the game giving KU an opportunity to stay in it but Kansas couldn't capitalize. KU made their own share of mistakes -- blocking punt returned for a touchdown comes to mind -- so it wasn't like they were without fault.

Another rough day for Kansas but, hey, one good quarter is something to build on, right?
