Liberty was 7-4 this past season under coach Danny Rocco who left the team to become the head coach at Richmond. Gill was spotted on the Liberty campus on Wednesday and he was expected to sit down with Liberty athletics director Jeff Barber to talk about the job.
Turner was fired at Kansas after going 5-19 over his two seasons as head coach. He was 20-30 during his four-year stint as the head coach at Buffalo where he led the Bulls to an upset victory over Ball State in the 2008 Mac Championship Game and to an appearance in the International Bowl.
