Turner Gill Buyout: Former Kansas Coach Will Receive Full Contract If Hired Elsewhere, According To Report

Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star is reporting good reason for Jayahwks fans to watch just where Turner Gills lands - he's reporting that per a deal cut with former athletic director Lew Perkins, Gill would be owed the entirety of his contract, even if he signs another coaching deal.

That means in addition to signing a new head coach, the Jayhawks will owe Gill the entirety of his $6 million deal signed under Perkins. That's a hefty price tag that could complicate KU's ability to land a top coach moving forward. Mellinger also mentions that, in a stroke of irony, Perkins is now working as a consultant for college football programs and athletic departments.
