Bill Self Thinks Morris Twins To NBA Is Good Timing

The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team will be sans the Morris twins next year as Marcus and Markieff announced they're leaving to head to the NBA draft. This drastically changes the identity of KU because these two were such a critical part of what KU did. So it makes Bill Self's job harder because it's easier to win with those guys than without.

"We've won a ton of games in the last three years and the twins were a big part of that. When the time is right, the time is right and certainly now the time is right for those guys to go onto the next level," Self said.

I also noticed Markieff referenced, in a release issued by the school, Self saying it was the right time to go.

"This decision was tugging at both our hearts," Markieff said. "Coach Self thinks this is a good time and we feel this is the best for us and for our family. We will always be Jayhawks and be part of this family. I would like the fans for their support over the past years. Some of my best experiences have been at KU and I'm thankful for my teammates, coaches and all the people that support KU."

That's a tough choice for Self to make because, on the one hand, he wants to give them the best advice as possible, which is probably to head to the NBA while, on the other hand, he doesn't want to lose his two best players. It takes a confident coach to make the decision he thinks is the best for the players and not for himself.
