Big 12 Football Media Days Set To Begin In Dallas

It continues to be excessively hot throughout the midwest, but as July comes to a close we are drawing nearer to the beginning of another college football season. The new look Big 12 convenes this week in Dallas for the annual conference media days.

With the league only have 10 teams now, the conference will adopt a full nine game league schedule as each team will play all other conference foes.

The Oklahoma Sooners will be aiming to win their fifth conference title in the past six seasons, while it appears that rival Oklahoma State and Texas A&M will be the biggest challengers this season. Of the local schools, the Missouri Tigers hope to get involved into the race. If Mizzou can find stability at the quarterback position in the post-Blaine Gabbert era, they should be poised for another big year.

The biggest elephant in the room during media days will certainly be the Texas Longhorns and Head Coach Mack Brown. With the development of the Longhorn Network, there has certainly been some discussions over the intent and the ethics of the new network. Texas A&M has been in the news lately for their displeasure about the Longhorns wanting to broadcast high school games of potential recruits. Certainly everyone in Dallas over the new few days will be paying attention to everything the Longhorns say and do.

Of the three area schools, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel will speak Monday (today) at noon, with some players being available to the media from 2-3 this afternoon. Kansas's Turner Gill and Bill Snyder of Kansas State are scheduled to speak before the media on Tuesday.
