In a series that dates back to 1960, the Michigan State Spartans have a 5-4 lead over the Kansas Jayhawks all-time.

Only two games on Tuesday feature a matchup between ranked opponents and one will tip-off at 6 p.m. CT when the No. 7 Kansas Jayhawks and No. 14 Michigan State Spartans battle at the Atlanta Georgia Dome in the State Farm Champions Classic.

While the two powerhouse men's basketball programs first met in 1960, they have only faced each other eight times since as the Spartans own a 5-4 lead in the all-time series thanks to two wins during the 2008-09 season. In January 2009, MSU earned a 75-62 victory before the teams met in the NCAA Tournament and Kansas was eliminated with a 67-62 loss.

The Jayhawks began their season with a 74-55 victory over Southeast Missouri State, while the Spartans dropped their opener against UConn, 66-62. The Huskies and Spartans played at Ramstein Air Base in Germany as the Spartans got out to a slow start and were unable to finish with a win after erasing a 16-point lead for the Huskies.
