The Jayhawks and Spartans meet in an early-season clash of marquee teams Tuesday in Atlanta.

College basketball powers Kansas and Michigan State meetin in Atlanta Tuesday in a big early-season test for both teams. The seventh-ranked Jayhawks and No. 14 Spartans tip off at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by ESPN.

The game is part of the Champions Classic at the Georgia Dome. It'll be the second straight marquee opponent to open the season for the Spartans, who lost 66-62 to Connecticut on Friday, which led to a drop of seven points in the AP poll. Kansas opened the year with a 74-55 win over Southeast Missouri State on Friday.

The Spartans' front court will have to tangle with 7-foot Jayhawks center Jeff Withey, who had 17 points and 12 rebounds against SEMO. Ben McLemore will look to build off a solid debut for Kansas. McLemore scored 9 points and had 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks.
