Kansas Jayhawks To Host JaKarr Sampson

JaKarr Sampson committed to play basketball at St. John's for the 2011-2012 season, but he has been declared academically ineligible and has decided to go back on the market for schools that may be interested in him for the 2012 season. According to SB Nation's Kansas Jayhawks blog, Rock Chalk Talk, the Jayhawks are one of those teams and he's set for a visit on the weekend of the 25th.

Sampson, a 6-foot-8 forward, is ranked by Rivals as the 17th best forward and the 51st best player overall in 2011. He is currently playing basketball at Brewster Prep, the same school that produced Thomas Robinson and Naadir Tharpe. While Sampson would be a tremendous addition for the Jayhawks, the folks at Rock Chalk Talk know he has some work to do.

Sampson is a 6'8" forward who is long and skilled. He's not very filled out so his back to the basket game is a bit limited, but he has an explosive first step and has reportedly improved his ball handling an incredible amount over the fall/winter.

Other than Kansas, Pitt, Providence, Louisville, Baylor, Miami and even St. John's are interested in obtaining Sampson.
