Kansas Vs. Purdue: Tyshawn Taylor Hopes To Avoid Cramping In NCAA Tournament's Third Round

The Kansas Jayhawks have already enjoyed a season far beyond what most college basketball fans expected riding on the backs of their two stars: point guard Tyshawn Taylor and Player of the Year candidate Thomas Robinson. The Jayhawks will definitely need both to make a deep run in the playoffs, yet Taylor had a hard time staying on the floor after cramping issues in the opening round against Detroit.

Taylor received treatment during the Detroit game for cramps that limited him to 23 total minutes played. In fact, Taylor missed most of the second half.

"After the first IV went in, they asked if I was all right. My legs felt tight," Taylor said. "I tried to move. I said, ‘Dang.’ As a competitor, you want to be out there for your team. If it was a close game, I’d feel worse about myself."

Head coach Bill Self didn’t seem too worried about Taylor’s health for tonight’s 8:40 CT tip-off time.

"I think he’s fine. He cramped in Hawaii, too, and sat out a good portion of the Georgetown game, and that was a full-body deal. Yesterday it was just his calf. He says his calf is sore," Self said.
