The first day of Big 12 mens basketball action won't feature top seeds Kansas and Missouri, but the action will directly affect both teams' path to the NCAA Tournament. The Oklahoma / Texas A&M winner will face the Jayhawks on Friday, while the Oklahoma State / Texas Tech winner sees Missouri.
A loss by either school in the second round would be considered a colossal upset: The Jayhawks were perfect against both of their potential opponents this season, beating the Sooners by 12 and 22 points during the regular season, and did the same to the Aggies by 10 and 8 points. Missouri swept Tech with 13 and 22 point wins, but lost at Stillwater on January 25 by seven before avenging the loss at home with a 17 point victory. Additionally, the Tigers would likely prefer to see TTU because of their freshman-heavy starting lineup, as most of the Red Raiders will be in tournament play for the first time.
