TCU Vs. Kansas Final Score: Jayhawks Can't Capitalize On Turnovers In 20-6 Loss

The Kansas Jayhawks dropped their 2012 Big 12 opener to the No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs, falling by a score of 20-6. The Jayhawks' defense forced four TCU turnovers, but two turnovers of their own, in addition to turning the ball over on downs twice, kept Kansas from pulling off a potential upset.

TCU quarterback Casey Pachall completed 24 of 30 passes for 335 yards and two touchdowns, but he also fumbled twice, including once on the goal line as he was attempting to score, which helped keep Kansas in the game. TCU fumbled two other times in the red zone, turning what should have been a blowout into a closer-than-expected game.

Unfortunately for the Jayhawks, Dayne Crist wasn't at his best, although he did throw for 303 yards. However, he completed less than half of his passes, and threw an interception as well. In addition, Crist returned Pachall's favor by fumbling the ball on TCU's goal line late in the fourth quarter, which prevented the Jayhawks from pulling to within a touchdown.

TCU wide receiver Brandon Carter had a big day, as he hauled in both of Pachall's touchdown passes, while catching eight passes for 141 yards overall. Meanwhile, Kansas wide receiver Andrew Turzilli made several big plays, and finished with 100 receiving yards on three catches. The Jayhawks' Tony Pierson fell a yard shy of the 100-yard mark, catching six passes for 99 yards. TCU running back Waymon James finished with 99 yards on 12 carries before exiting with an apparent knee injury in the fourth quarter.
