TCU Vs. Kansas 2012: Inconsistency On Both Sides Of Ball Costs Jayhawks In Loss

The Kansas Jayhawks lost their 2012 Big 12 opener to the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday, 20-6. There were positive signs from the Jayhawks in the loss, as the defense forced four TCU turnovers and quarterback Dayne Crist threw for more than 300 yards.

However, the gang over at SB Nation's Rock Chalk Talk notes that for all the positives Kansas displayed on Saturday, there were an equal amount of negatives that should concern the fans and coaching staff:

As always, we saw some improvement in certain areas and some things that are still worthy of concern. Overall, TCU outgained Kansas 489 yards to 380. The Kansas defense had men around the TCU players often but still struggled making tackles and stopping the Frogs when it mattered outside of the red zone. On offense, the Jayhawks felt fairly balanced and effective in the first half. The second half was a different story as the playcalling went very pass heavy and it just didn't work.

Kansas will travel next Saturday to take on the Northern Illinois Huskies. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT.
