Dolphins running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams have expiring contracts, which will allow Daniel Thomas the opportunity to play right away in Miami, who picked Thomas 62nd overall in the 2011 NFL draft.

The Miami Dolphins traded up in the second round with the Washington Redskins to select Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas with the 62nd overall pick. The 2009 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and two-time all conference selection capped off his Wildcat career rushing for 1,585 yards last season, along with 19 touchdowns rushing.
Miami was known to be interested in the Florida native as he had visited the team two weeks ago. With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams having expiring contracts, Thomas should step right in and have the ability to get carries right away. As shown during his Kansas State days, Thomas is also very versatile out of the backfield, catching 52 passes in his two years in Manhattan.
While it is obviously too early to know, Dolphins write Jeff Darlington tweeted that the possibility of Thomas running the wildcat isn't out the question. After all, the Dolphins were the ones who made the wildcat offense popular with Brown.
