Bill Snyder regrets 'conservative' approach with Collin Klein vs. TCU

Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

Kansas State kept its unbeaten season alive with a 23-10 win over TCU on Saturday, but head coach Bill Snyder thinks he could have gotten more out of his star quarterback.

The Kansas State Wildcats stayed unbeaten with a 23-10 win over TCU on Saturday, but head coach Bill Snyder said after the game that he thought he played his star quarterback, Collin Klein, a little too conservatively.

Klein, remember, was injured in the third quarter last week in the Wildcats' win over Oklahoma State, but the Heisman candidate was able to suit up and play on Saturday -- perhaps even better than Snyder thought.

"He made the plays he had to make in the ball game, but we were probably a little conservative for him," Snyder said after the game. "We could have given him more chances than what we did, but he played reasonably well. He managed the ball game as he always does."

But even with the Kansas State staff playing it safe with Klein, he was still able to make his presence known.

The senior quarterback only threw 12-of-21 for 145 yards and an interception, but he was also the team's leading rusher. On 15 carries, he managed to total 50 yards and score two touchdowns in a game that did not have much offense.

Snyder will likely play Klein a bit more aggressively when the No. 2 Wildcats visit Baylor in their penultimate game of the regular season.
