Bruce Weber's Wildcats picked up a first-round win in the NIT Season Tip-Off on Monday night.
The Kansas State Wildcats moved to 2-0 on the season with a 79-55 win over the Lamar Cardinals on Monday night in the first round of the 2012 NIT Season Tip-Off.
Guards Angel Rodriguez and Will Spradling led the Wildcats in scoring in limited minutes. Rodriguez scored 19 points in 20 minutes while adding four assists. Spradling went 4-6 from the three-point line and added 14 points in only 17 minutes of play.
Kansas State built a 43-15 halftime lead, which led Bruce Weber to use the second half to disperse minutes to bench players. The Wildcats' bench, led by Martavious Irving's eight points, added 24 points to the win. Six of eight bench players were on the floor for at least 12 minutes.
Donley Minor led Lamar in scoring with 17 points, shooting 4-5 from behind the arc.
The Wildcats advance to the quarterfinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off and will play the winner of the game between North Texas and Alabama, Huntsville on Tues., Nov. 13.
