The Kansas State Wildcats earned a trip to the 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament as a No. 8 seed and will take on Princeton in first-round action. The Wildcats finished with a 19-13 record and were 9-9 in Big 12 Conference play. Kansas State lost in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament falling to undefeated Baylor. Princeton finished 24-4 and won the Ivy League's regular season and conference tournament titles. The Tigers last loss came on December 17 at Stanford. Princeton has won 17 games in a row.
The Kansas Jayhawks received a No. 11 seed in the tournament and will take on 6th-seeded Nebraska in the first-round. The Jayhawks went 19-12 and 8-10 in conference play. Kansas lost to Texas A&M in their quarterfinal matchup at the Big 12 Tournament. Nebraska enters the tournament sporting a 24-8 record. The Cornhuskers suffered a double overtime loss to Purdue in the Big 10 Conference Tournament.
