College Football Rankings: Mizzou Hops To No. 23 In BlogPoll

SB Nation has unveiled the Week 6 college football BlogPoll.

Mizzou has good news and Kansas State is on the brink of getting some good news.

After not being ranked in the BlogPoll all season, Mizzou jumped to No. 23 this week. It's coming off of a bye so the Tigers are still sitting at 4-0 through five weeks.

Kansas State is right on the edge of being ranked. It has the most votes for the non-top 25. If it beats Nebraska on Thursday night, you can bet it will be ranked.

College Football Rankings, Big 12: Kansas Falls To The Bottom

Kansas is having a rough go at it after being blown out against Baylor on Saturday, 55-7.

SB Nation's Rock Chalk Talk ranks the Big 12 teams every week so here's a look at where they have their very own KU Jayhawks.

12. Kansas (2-3)

Rock Chalk Talk says....

I tried my best to move this team up the list and believe but at this point 12 is where they are and 12 is where they'll stay until they can do it for more than one week in a row.  Sure the Jayhawks might squeak out a win at home somewhere, but until they compete consistently and win more than one in a row I'm not jumping back on the believe bandwagon.  At this point I want progress and signs of improvement to make me think there is hope for the future.

They're dropped from No. 9 in RCT's rankings last week but dead last is probably right for KU after Saturday's 55-7 beating courtesy of Baylor.

College Football Rankings, Big 12: Kansas State Still In It

Kansas State comes off the bye week rockin' a 4-0 record as they prepare for Big 12 Conference play.

SB Nation's Rock Chalk Talk issues Big 12 power rankings every week so I wanted to take a look at where Kansas State landed.

5. Kansas State (4-0)

Rock Chalk Talk says...

A chance to truly legitimize the program this year and move into the top 25 as they get ready to play the top 10 Huskers from the land of Corn.

If they beat Nebraska -- huge if -- then they'll be considered legitimate in the eyes of many. This is a ridiculously big game for K-State on Thursday.

College Football Rankings, Big 12: Mizzou In The Top Half

Mizzou football comes off the bye week 4-0 and in the top half of the Big 12 through the first month of the season.

SB Nation's Rock Chalk Talk ranks the Big 12 every week so we'll take a look at where Mizzou lands.

4. Missouri (4-0)

Rock Chalk Talk says...

Mizzou enters conference play and a game that looks a little more difficult now in Colorado.  No change this week as most teams in the conversation for the #4 spot or above were in a bye this week.

RCT has Oklahoma State ahead of Nebraska in these rankings but I could see an argument that Mizzou should be third ahead of OSU and behind Oklahoma and Nebraska. Either way this ranking is acceptable.

College Football Rankings: USA Today, AP Don't Unsurprisingly Don't List Kansas

What, you expected Kansas to be ranked after being blown out against Baylor?

OK, we know you didn't expect that. They're not in the USA Today coaches poll nor the top 25 AP poll.

But, since we cover Kansas City area sports, we must inform that KU just isn't very good, isn't ranked and won't be ranked all year.

Sitting at 2-3, KU would have to run the table to think about being ranked at some point this season and that's incredibly unlikely.

College Football Rankings Week 6: USA Today Coaches Poll Has 4 Big 12 Teams

USA Today's coaches poll has just four Big 12 teams in the top 25 poll after Texas was knocked out.

Here's where the Big 12 stands in the USA Today coaches poll:

6. Nebraska

7. Oklahoma

21. Oklahoma State

22. Missouri

If K-State can win next week against Nebraska, they would probably make five Big 12 teams in the top 25.

Mizzou is now 24th in the AP top 25 and 22nd in the USA Today coaches poll.

Mizzou is 4-0 and done with their non-conference schedule.

They had a bye this week but begin conference play next week.

College Football Rankings Week 6: How The Big 12 Did

There were a few changes to the Week 6 AP poll in the Big 12.

The biggest of course was Texas being booted out.

Here are the other Big 12 changes in the college football rankings:

• - Oklahoma to No. 6 from No. 8
• - Oklahoma State to No. 22 from Not Ranked
• - Missouri to No. 24 from Not Ranked
• - Nebraska to No. 7 from No. 6

Other than that...not many changes.

Next week we'd see a significant changeup if Kansas State can upset Nebraska.

College Football Rankings Week 6: Bye, Bye Texas; Big 12 Has 4 Teams Left

The Big 12 took a hit over the weekend when Texas lost (to Oklahoma) and was knocked out of the AP top 25 poll for the first time since 2000.

Ouch. Two losses in a row for the Longhorns. The Week 6 AP poll won't be one they forget for a while.

Here's how the Big 12 college football rankings pan out:

- No. 6 Oklahoma
- No. 7 Nebraska
- No. 22 Oklahoma State
- No. 24 Missouri

College Football Rankings Week 6: Kansas State On The Verge Of Being Ranked

Kansas State isn't yet ranked in the AP Top 25 poll but they're getting close.

In the week 6 AP poll, Kansas State, 4-0, has 69 votes while Air Force, the 25th team in the country, has 94 votes. Getting closer, Wildcats.

They're going to face their stiffest test yet next Thursday when Nebraska comes to town.

A victory, and there's no doubt they'll be ranked. A loss and they'll tumble.

College Football Rankings Week 6: Mizzou Makes Appearance In AP Top 25 Poll

Mizzou football makes its first appearance in the AP Top 25 poll this year.

They're ranked 24th just ahead of Air Force and right behind Florida State.

Kansas State, also 4-0 like Mizzou, isn't ranked. They're in the "others receiving votes" category so you know they're close to being ranked. Upsetting Nebraska next week would do it.
