College Football Rankings, Week 5: Mizzou Doesn't Make BlogPoll Top 25

SB Nation has unveiled the Week 5 edition of the college football BlogPoll.

Where's Missouri?

Neatly filed under "Others receiving votes."

It would appear that Mizzou is getting awfully close to appearing the BlogPoll's top 25.

Mizzou football is off this weekend so we're not going to see them jump up because of a win. It's possible they sneak in next week if one of the lower ranked teams blows it.

For now...Mizzou waits.

College Football Rankings, Week 5: Big 12 Taking A Beating In AP Poll

The Big 12 conference took a hit with the latest college football rankings.

The college football AP poll has Texas down to No. 21 after Saturday's loss.

The USA Today coaches poll includes five Big 12 teams. The AP poll includes just three.

  • 6. Nebraska
  • 8. Oklahoma
  • 21. Texas

In the USA Today coaches poll, Mizzou is No. 23 while Oklahoma State is No. 24.

College football will see the BCS rankings in a few weeks so there won't be these discrepancies.

College Football Rankings, Week 5: Big 12 Shakeup In USA Today Coaches Poll

There was a shakeup in the college football rankings for the Big 12 Conference this week.

The USA Today Coaches Poll is out and Nebraska is now the Big 12 leader in college football.

The big news: Texas lost. They were fourth and were bumped all the way back to 16th after Saturday's loss.

  • 6. Nebraska
  • 8. Oklahoma
  • 16. Texas
  • 23. Missouri
  • 24. Oklahoma State

The focus now shifts to Nebraska as they hold the sixth spot in the USA Today coaches poll.

College Football Rankings, Week 5: What You're Missing, Kansas

The Kansas Jayhawks do not appear in the college football 25 AP poll, which now becomes the least surprising news of your week.

The college football rankings have been out for five weeks now and KU football has yet to appear.

2-2 through four games makes it a no-brainer that they they're not ranked.

The good news for KU? They've got a young quarterback who will get plenty of experience moving forward so they have a shot to appear in these polls in future years.

Mizzou is ranked and KU is not...something is familiar about this college football season.

College Football Rankings, Week 5: Mizzou Missing From AP Poll, Again

Mizzou football can't crack the college football AP poll.

They're sitting in 23rd in the USA Today coaches poll but haven't yet appeared in the AP poll.

Eh, what do college football rankings mean anyway? Oh...yeah. They mean a lot.

College football is barely a month old and here's where the top 25 stands:

  1. Alabama
  2. Ohio State
  3. Boise State
  4. Oregon
  5. TCU
  6. Nebraska
  7. Florida
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Stanford
  10. Auburn
  11. Wisconsin
  12. LSU
  13. Utah
  14. Arizona
  15. Arkansas

Next stop for Mizzou football will be Colorado on Oct. 9 for the start of conference play. Some tougher opponents and some tougher victories should land Mizzou in the top 25.

College Football Rankings, Week 5: No Surprise, No Kansas

Kansas did not appear in the USA Today coaches poll this week after their victory this weekend.

What, you mean a New Mexico State victory doesn't count for big points in the USA Today coaches poll?

The college football rankings won't mean much to KU this season as they've already dropped two games.

If they had beaten North Dakota State, and sitting at 3-1, then maybe we'd start talking college football rankings with Kansas if they were able to go on a run to start Big 12 Conference play.

College football is entering Week 5 and the Jayhawks sit at 2-2.
