Missouri Tigers head football coach Gary Pinkel announced that he has filed for divorce from his wife Vicki Pinkel. The two announced that they were separating back in April, but now it is official with the divorce papers being filed Friday in the Boone County Circuit Court.. The couple met while they each were going to school at Kent State and the two were married in 1973.

Married almost 40 years, the Pinkels have three children and five grandchildren. There was no reason for why the two decided to separate back in April, and no reason for why a divorce is pending.

Back in April, all Pinkel gave a brief statement on his personal life:

"I would ask that you please respect the privacy of the entire Pinkel family during this difficult time.''

Respect is what both parties deserve, and the details of their separation and now divorce are the couple's matter.
