James Franklin injury update: Missouri QB questionable once again

Joe Robbins

Missouri quarterback James Franklin was knocked out of Saturday's loss to the Syracuse Orange, and is questionable for this week's contest against Texas A&M.

It seems the ongoing injury saga of Missouri quarterback James Franklin will continue for at least another week this season. The Tigers blew Saturday's game to the Syracuse Orange, allowing 21 fourth quarter points in a 31-27 defeat, and lost Franklin in the fourth quarter. The loss snapped Missouri's 18-game winning streak against non-conference opponents, the program's best in the modern era.

More on the oft-injured quarterback, from head coach Gary Pinkel's postgame comments:

"I just got the word that he was dinged. Our trainers pulled him out. We'll see where it goes from here. I don't know which play it happened on. He's had a remarkable year. I've been doing this a long time and I've never seen a quarterback have all the things happen to him physically that he has had happen to him. It's certainly frustrating and we really for bad for him."

Before being knocked from the game, Franklin completed 17 of 23 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns. His 279 passing yards moved the junior into seventh place on Missouri's all-time passing yardage list with 4,533. His backup, Corbin Berkstresser, completed 2 of 2 passes for 65 yards in the fourth quarter in place of Franklin.

Missouri finishes the regular season on the road next Saturday against the Texas A&M Aggies. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
