The Miami Heat and LeBron James are three quarters away from an NBA championship. After the first quarter of Game 5 in Miami, the Heat lead 31-26.
The focus of the night, James scored the opening basket on a driving dunk, igniting the Miami crowd that was wild from the beginning, hoping to see a championship won. The Thunder defense was quite porous. The Heat made nine straight shots from from 9:14 remaining in the quarter to 1:19 left. The Heat shot 11-for-19 (57.9 percent), while the Thunder shot 9-for-24 (37.5 percent)
Despite that, the Thunder are very much in this game because of Kevin Durant.
Durant has nine points on 4-for-8 shooting. Russell Westbrook has eight on 1-for-5 shooting, but he's 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. The Heat have been led by seven points from James who is 3-for-4 from the floor with three rebounds and two assists. Miami led by as much as eight in the period.
But if there's one thing we've learned about this series, an early lead means little.
