NBA Summer League: Latavious Williams Working On Perimeter Jumper

The Oklahoma City Thunder have ascended to the top of the NBA thanks mainly to their ability to draft and develop young players, something which they aren't ignoring even though there's currently very little room on their roster.

One of their intriguing "draft-and-stash" prospects is 2010 second-rounder Latavious Williams, a wiry and extremely athletic 6'8 swing forward who they selected out of high school and sent to the NBDL in 2011.

After spending the 2012 season in Europe, Williams is back in the US playing for the Thunder's summer-league team. He sat down for a Q&A with the Daily Oklahoma where he talked about which parts of his game that he is still trying to develop:

Is there one aspect of your game that you're trying to work on in Orlando this week?

Just shooting the ball. From 15 (feet) on out, I need to work on all of it.

Williams has NBA-caliber athleticism and was a highly-touted high school recruit before academic issues forced him to go pro rather than enrolling at Memphis. However, at only 6'8, he doesn't have the size to play center, which means he needs to develop more of a perimeter game.

With Perry Jones now in the fold, it doesn't appear that Williams has much of a chance to make Oklahoma City's roster, but if he can prove that he's a consistent perimeter shooter, he'll likely draw attention from other NBA teams looking to upgrade the athleticism on their front-line.
