NBA Free Agency: Thunder Interested In Retaining Derek Fisher

The Oklahoma City Thunder reportedly have interest in bringing back veteran point guard Derek Fisher, according to Howard Beck of The New York Times. Fisher finished out the 2012 season with the Thunder in a limited role off the bench, providing an occasional spark during the postseason. According to Beck, five teams are interested in adding the veteran to their rotation:

The Nets are now among the front-runners to sign Fisher, along with the Mavericks, the Chicago Bulls, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Fisher, who won five titles with the Lakers, joined the Thunder in February and was a key part of the rotation for Oklahoma City, which lost to the Miami Heat in the finals.

Fisher obviously does not have much left in the tank, so the winning suitor will likely land him on a short-term deal for limited money. The Thunder and Sam Presti, who took a flyer on Hasheem Thabeet this week, may be willing to bring back Fisher although he could prove to be an impediment to Reggie Jackson's growth in his sophomore season.
