NBA Free Agency: Derek Fisher Could Return To Oklahoma City, But Cleveland Cavaliers Are Frontrunners

Derek Fisher could end up with the Oklahoma City Thunder next season, but it doesn't seem likely if you believe the reports on the likelihood of him heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sports Illustrated NBA writer Sam Amick, one of the best in the business, cites a source with knowledge of Fisher's free agency situation that confirms the Cavs are the frontrunners for the 5-time NBA champion's services. The Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks are also possibilities for Fisher.

Here is Amick explaining why Fisher, at this point in his career, would play for the Cavaliers:

For Fisher, the Cavs could present a good mix of a significant role and money (though possible terms not yet known) while playing a mentor role to Kyrie Irving.
