Jimmy Nielsen Signs Two-Year Extension With Sporting KC

Fans of Sporting KC have reason to celebrate knowing that after their phenomenal year in 2011, the team's MVP is going to be back for a while. The team announced today that Jimmy Nielsen signed an extension to keep him in Kansas City for at least another two years with an option for 2014.

"There was never a question that I wanted to stay, after Peter told me that he would like me here as well," Nielsen said. "I’ve only had Sporting on my mind, and I’m excited to play in front of our fans for the next couple of years that lie ahead as we work towards winning a championship."

The 34-year-old was an MLS All-Star in 2010. The Danish player is a two-time Danish Goalkeeper of the Year award winner back in 1998 and 2004.
