The Pittsburgh Pirates aren't exactly a desirable franchise but, hey, a manager's job is a manager's job.
According to the KC Star, Kansas City Royals bench coach John Gibbons has interviewed for the Pirates managerial job.
The Pirates fired John Russell after he lost 105 games as the Pirates manager in 2010.
Others interviewing for the job include former Indiana manager Eric Wedge and former Arizona and Florida coach Bo Porter.
Gibbons, 48, managed the Toronto Blue Jays from 2004 to the middle of 2008.
Gibbons is a little more fiery and has had a number of run-ins with players including Dave Bush, Ted Lilly, Shea Hillenbrand and Frank Thomas.
Gibbons has been with the Royals since Oct. 10, 2008.
