Big 12 Basketball Preseason Poll: Kansas Takes The Second Spot

Kansas Jayhawks forward Marcus Morris is on the preseason Wooden Award list meaning there are some folks who think he's going to be pretty good (shocking, yes, I know).

Kansas as a whole came in second in the Big 12 basketball preseason poll.

Kansas was selected second and received the other two first-place votes. The Jayhawks have 12 lettermen slated to be back this season, led by junior forward Marcus Morris. He led the Big 12 by shooting 56.1 percent from the field in conference action (.561) in 2009-10. KU has finished first or second in all but one season since the Big 12 began play in 1996-97.

First or second in the Big 12 in all but one year since 1996 is an incredible stat. I imagine that won't change this year, despite a deeper Big 12.

Kansas got two of the 12 first place votes (10 others went to Kansas State).

Here's the full poll:

  Team (First-place Votes) Points
1. Kansas State (10) 119
2. Kansas (2) 109

7. Texas Tech 52

10. Nebraska 31
