Kansas Jayhawks basketball kicks off on Tuesday night...sort of. The Jayhawks will be playing an exhibition game against Washburn on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The game will take place at Allen Fieldhouse and will feature an intense rivalry between the two Kansas schools.
OK, it's not really a rivalry. At all.
The Jayhawks are looking for their 36th consecutive exhibition win and their 22nd under head coach Bill Self. The game will be televised so this is your first opportunity to watch some KU basketball from the comfort of your own home.
Washburn head coach Bob Chipman calls it a "great experience" for his team to play one of the best in college basketball.
"Not only is it a great environment, but we're going to see a team that does all the right things and does them the way you want your team to do. It's a great learning experience in all ways.
"It's a process to test our defense and test our offense. It's pretty glaring as far as what you need to work on after playing KU."
You can't say the Ichabods don't schedule difficult teams in this exhibition schedule. After KU, they play Kansas State on Sunday and then UNLV the following Tuesday.
Basketball season is finally here.
