NFL power rankings for Week 13 will be streaming in over the next 24 hours and for Atlanta Falcons fans that's a good thing. The Falcons are staking their claim as the league's best team. Peter King of SI.com has the Falcons atop his Fine Fifteen followed by the New England Patriots and New York Jets. The Falcons are tied with those teams for the NFL's best record and are have beaten the 7-4 Green Bay Packers, 8-3 Baltimore Ravens and 7-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the last month. They're simply on fire.
As for the Kansas City Chiefs, King puts them at No. 13, which is a little low in my mind. The Chiefs' victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12 was very impressive and impressive enough, in my mind, to move them up a few spots. Should KC be ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? New York Giants? I can see arguments there but, for now, KC will have to live with being on the cusp of a top 10 team.
Moving forward the KC Chiefs won't have a good opportunity to increase their rankings until Dec. 12. That's when the Chiefs travel to San Diego to play the Chargers, who are King's ninth ranked team. The Chiefs host the Denver Broncos next week in a game in which they're already seven-point favorites.
