Jacob Pullen Leads Kansas State Wildcats Over Emporia State Hornets, 85-61

The Kansas State Wildcats moved to 6-1 on the year as they took down the Emporia State Hornets on Monday night at Bramlage Coliseum. K-State's Jacob Pullen was the story of the night as he led the Wildcats in the 85-61 victory and broke the school record for career three-pointers.

Pullen had 26 points and five assists including four three-pointers en route to the 24-point victory. He tied the school record for three-pointers late in the first half and followed it up with No. 241, breaking Steve Henson's school record of 240. Pullen allowed for a few smiles as his record was announced and cheers came from the crowd.

Emporia State kept things somewhat close early but Kansas State pulled away late in the first half and into the second half. Pullen's effort was complemented by Freddy Asprilla's 17-point career night on 8-of-10 shooting. He added eight rebounds as well. Guard Rodney McGruded had 17 points and Jamar Samuels was solid with eight points and six rebounds.

Kansas State found out on Monday that they dropped below the Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA basketball rankings. They now sit at No. 5 as KU sits at No. 4.

Kansas State also ended the month of November with six wins, a school record. They had a nice formula for victory. The Wildcats are 50-2 under Frank Martin when scoring over 80 points and 55-6 when allowing less than 70 points. They also made 52.3 percent of their shots which was just shy of their season high.

All in all, it was a solid night for Kansas State.
